The Public Can Now Verify the Authenticity of Documents Issued by SSM Using QR Code Reader and Web Checker
Technology has come a long way from merely improving our daily lives to educating us to become more responsible. Documents and documentations are still necessary for sharing of specific information when it is requested. But, with technology, documents can now be saved and shared electronically within a few clicks. Gone are the days of stamp and signatories for certified true copies of documents. With the right use of technology, there are now digital certified true copies.
Validating the True Copy
Even with technology, a smart individual will find a way to make a copy of certified documents look like the real thing. Hence, the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) is utilising technology to ensure that only their organisation would have the original and certified true copy of registered documents. Previously, the public would need to know how to use PosDigicert, a technology used by SSM to validate digital certified true copies. The technology was available if the user has access to a computer and Internet connection. As technology advances for the better, there is more handy technology that can be utilised to validate digital certified true copies.
QR Code Reader
At least 90 per cent of mobile phone users are now using smartphones that comes with a camera. A QR code is a unique encrypted code generated for individual items. The versatility of utilising QR codes is extensive that it is now incorporated into SSM’s documents for business and company registration papers. Smartphone users can now download the SSM QR CODE READER from Google Play (Android) and the App Store (iOS) to enable them to scan QR code found on any SSM documents. As long as there is a working camera on the smartphone, the public can scan the QR code found on the physical paper using the QR code reader by SSM. It is also advised that users to have an internet connection so that the reader can search for the digital certified true copy of the SSM database. Users can then compare if the hard copy is the same as the digital copy kept within the SSM database.
Web Checker on Screen
For certain parties that rely more on internet browsers than QR code via smartphones, there is also a web checker version. The web checker is a web system that users can use to verify and validate the authenticity of digital certified true copy document issued by SSM. Before using the web checker, a user will need to register and sign in to the system. The web checker will require the serial number that is available just under the QR code. Once the number is keyed in, the system will search in the data for the digital certified true copy. There will be different possible outcomes for each search, depending on the SSM hard copy that you may have.
Simplifying Users
As much as we embrace technology in our daily lives, some shun it because of its complexity. SSM is encouraging users to utilise technology as easy as this so that users can check their SSM issued documents are the real deal anytime anywhere.
