SME Status Registration System by SME Corp Malaysia
New System to Verify Status of SMEs in Malaysia
SME Corporation Malaysia (SME Corp)’s online registration system intends to make it much easier for businesses in Malaysia to verify their business status.
The new system will facilitate the verification of a business’s status. It makes the process much easier by reducing the number of documents needed. Registering and confirming the status of an SME is done for free. Once the SME has been endorsed with an SME Status, a digital certificate can be downloaded. The fee to download costs RM100 and will be valid for 2 years.
The SME Status Registration System has been implemented in Malaysia beginning March 2020. All businesses across the various economic sectors will be able to benefit from this system. They can check the status of their business, get assistance if needed and incentives too using this new system. The incentives are specifically targeted for the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Businesses can apply for an SME Status for free starting from 1 March to 31 August 2020. Upon approval, you will be issued with a Digital SME Status Certificate. The validity period of the certificate is for 1 year.
This application is not a compulsory one. It is merely a way to validate your business’s status and confirm your establishment fulfils the definition of an SME.
