Plans in the Works by Malaysian Government to Create New Economic Corridor
A new economic corridor development will be put forth to the Economic Action Council (EAC), announced Malaysia’s Economic Affairs Minister.
The proposal for the new economic corridor is being deliberated by the Ministry of Economic Affairs before it reaches the EAC. It is necessary for the council to deliberate on these plans since it is going to be a long-term investment.
New Development to Focus on Other Areas
The new development is expected to assist with the expansion of small towns in Malaysia, all the way from Johor to Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia’s Economic Affairs Minister believes that if all goes well, the expected development could be launched as early as next year.
Johor is already home to one economic development corridor known as Iskandar Malaysia. The Ministry of Economic Affairs wants the new development to focus on other areas besides big cities and beyond Klang Valley. Other smaller districts, like Tanjung Piai, for example, will stand to benefit too. Discussions are still ongoing about the number of small towns that will be involved in the new development.
