MIDA Hold Special Briefing Sessions for Greater Opportunities
The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) recently held a briefing session entitled, “An Update on Investment Opportunities in Perlis’ at the MIDA headquarters. The first of it’s kind, this session was part of MIDA’s efforts to provide in-depth opportunities in every state this year. The series follows the successful regional supply chain conferences and domestic investment seminars that were held last year. The event was a collaboration with the Perlis State Economic Planning Division, previously known as the State Economic Planning Unit or EPU Perlis. To achieve greater results, the agency is leveraging on the close cooperation and coordination MIDA has with the state agencies. During the session, a presentation was delivered by its MIDA’s Principal Assistant Director, Sanisah Sarnuji.
A platform for update latest development and investment opportunities
According to MIDA’s Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Azman Mahmud, the special briefing session series is a new initiative undertaken by MIDA and is in addition to it’s ongoing efforts in facilitating investors. “This serves as a platform for the relevant state government agencies to update the business community on the latest development and investment opportunities in their respective states. The series will cover the 13 states in Malaysia and will run throughout the year,” he said. Azman said that through the series, industry players will have the opportunity to get in-depth details on the latest development and investment opportunities on specific states from the relevant state authorities. “This deeper understanding will benefit investors in making well-informed investment decisions in choosing a location that best fits the needs and suitability of their overall business strategies,” he said.
He said that while some states have continuously topped the list of recipients for investments, other states have yet to achieve their full potential. “MIDA seeks to attract investments and create jobs for locals for all states in the country towards developing an equitable and sustainable economic growth in Malaysia,” he said, adding that this was in line with the Government’s aspirations of promoting an inclusive economy. Further details on the special briefing sessions on investment opportunities in other states will be released in due time.
