Malaysia and Uzbekistan Strengthening Bilateral Bonds Over Economic Matters
As Malaysia and Uzbekistan approach their fourth decade of diplomatic relations, the two nations are committed to proclaiming their economic ties. The statement came from Malaysia’s Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry during the Uzbekistan-Malaysia Business Forum at the Silk Road Samarkand Complex, where both prime ministers were present.
The minister explained that Malaysia would continue working with Uzbekistan on industrial reform initiatives, complementing the country’s 2030 New Industrial Master Plan. Uzbekistan has a sizable youthful population, and its expanding economy offers substantial possibilities for Malaysian businesses desiring to extend their mark in the region.
With a shared history, values, and interests, both countries have formed the basis of Malaysia and Uzbekistan’s cordial relations and lasting friendship for the past 32 years. These fundamental elements have supported their robust diplomatic and economic cooperation. Interested businesses should mirror these elements. Malaysia’s inaugural visit by its prime minister demonstrates Malaysia’s commitment to stronger economic ties between the two countries.
The minister emphasized the importance of the Malaysian-Uzbekistan Joint Trade Committee as a key platform for promoting increased trade facilitation, closer economic cooperation, and the exploration of new avenues for collaboration. He urged both nations to seize the fresh opportunities for cooperation, demonstrating the committee’s crucial role in fostering stronger economic ties.
Malaysia Spreading Her Wings Further
As the world becomes more complex, Malaysia is eager to collaborate with other countries to improve trade facilitation and ease of doing business. The Malaysian agency, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), took the initiative to establish cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan (CCIU), signalling the start of a promising, successful partnership between the two nations’ private sectors.
The minister hoped the high-level business forum would open doors and spark numerous successful economic ties between communities. He believes it will inspire business leaders to continue exploring possible joint ventures that will benefit both nations.
