Rumah Kasih Charity Home: Donating with Love
A Visit to Rumah Kasih Charity Home Fills the Heart with a Passion to Do Greater Good
Christmas is just around the corner. It is the season of joy, laughter and smiles. Gift-giving is anticipated between friends and family. But for the residents of Rumah Kasih Charity Home, the best gift they hope for is the gift of love and happiness. In the heart of Kuala Lumpur, lies this charity home caring for the homeless, needy and elderly. It is heartbreaking to know that these residents ended up here as they have nowhere to go. A house like this welcomes them when they are shunned from society.
Charity Begins at Home
Running a charity home is never easy. Charity homes are only sustainable through private funding, as public funding is channelled to more critical matters. Being the manager that runs the charity home requires courage, consistency and most importantly, a golden heart. Caring for the elderly, both sick and homeless, can be detrimental. Most of the residents here in Rumah Kasih Charity Home are senior citizens and abandoned patients in government hospitals. This home is the only home the residents would know and appreciate until the day they pass away. They can only hope that their family members would visit them once in a while, if not care for them. Given any day they receive visitors, their faces lit up as they get to engage with society.
Spending Time to Give
Sympathy and kindness exist in all of us. 3E Accounting employees acknowledged that sharing the joy and spreading kindness is the best way to celebrate Christmas. Hence, all employees of 3E Accounting Malaysia dropped by Rumah Kasih Charity Home to hand over food donation and essentials to the manager. Their visit to the home enlightened them about the needs of running a charity home for these residents. The residents need daily essentials just like any of us. Some of these residents are sick as well and require medications and dressing for wounds. Thus, the management team of 3E Accounting topped the donations with cash donations for their daily expenses, including utility bills.
Social Responsibility
Managing a charity home may be the responsibility of the manager. But in its sincerest form, keeping tabs on the welfare of charity homes is a social responsibility. It does not necessarily mean donating cash per se, but making and spending time for a charitable cause is also highly appreciated. Every individual, young or old, is welcomed to visit the home. Any kinds of donation are highly appreciated by both the manager and the residents as well. Putting a smile on the elderly is so much more than material gifts. Visitors may be strangers to the residents, and vice versa, but making a connection gives meaning in their lives. A visit to Rumah Kasih Charity Home is an excellent way to understand the facilities needed to maintain a decent life for the homeless, ill, sick, and abandoned senior citizens. It is a tremendous and truly selfless act for those involved in caring for them. The residents have only several years to enjoy living, and society at large can play an engaging role with these residents.
