Malaysia is a Confident Investment Destination Among Investors
Malaysia’s economy can expect moderate but steady growth as the country’s fiscal deficit reduced by 39% between January-May 2019 compared to the same period last year. The current fiscal performance signals that Malaysia is on the right track to achieve its targeted fiscal deficit of 3.4% of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2019 and restore its fiscal health by 2021.
According to Bank Negara Malaysia’s (“BNM”) director of economics, En Mohd Fraziali Ismail, Malaysia’s well-diversified export portfolio is well placed to buffer the impact of the escalating trade tensions between the US and China. Meanwhile, the international reserves of BNM, as at 15 July 2019, stood at USD103.3 billion. The Central Bank said in a statement that the reserves position is sufficient to finance 7.3 months of retained imports and is 1.2 times total short-term external debt.
National Day: ‘Sayangi Malaysiaku: Malaysia Bersih’
Malaysia will turn 62 on 31st August. We, Malaysians, have been through thick and thin together since 1957 to make this country great. This year, our National Day and Malaysia Day share the same theme: ‘Sayangi Malaysiaku: Malaysia Bersih’ (Love our Malaysia: A Clean Malaysia). As the theme implies, unity, patriotism for the well-being of the people as well as shared prosperity are the key factors that make our country progress. While the main song for the celebration will be ‘Malaysia Bersih’ (English: A Clean Malaysia), a song that emphasises the culture of integrity and rejecting corruption, ‘Kita Punya Malaysia’ (English: Our Malaysia) will also be sung to fire up the spirit of patriotism.
Let us stay the course and achieve great things together. Happy National Day!
Thank you.
